Background and Education
Nancy is a registered investment advisor representative, a certified public accountant, and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM.
She began her professional career in 1976 with a national public accounting firm, served as the financial officer of a family-owned manufacturing firm and has worked with several not-for-profit entities.
She graduated with an accounting degree from Bradley University and completed the Program in Financial Planning at DePaul University. She joined ShankerValleau in 2007.
Nancy is a member of the Illinois CPA Society, the Financial Planning Association, and NAPFA, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. The mission of NAPFA’s members is to provide comprehensive client-centered advice to individuals and families. NAPFA’s continuing education requirements exceed those of any other association of financial advisors and all members must sign a Fiduciary Oath that they explicitly promise “to place the clients’ interests first.”
Nancy and her husband, Larry, have lived in Evanston for 38 years where they have enjoyed raising their two sons. Nancy volunteers with the Center for Economic Progress to provide free tax return filing to low income families in the Chicago area.
