Background and Education
Larry is the founder and president of ShankerValleau Accountants, Inc. He is an attorney, a certified public accountant and a registered investment advisor. He began his professional career in 1978 in the tax department of a major public accounting firm, followed by more than four years at a leading Chicago law firm. His over 33 years of broad-based financial experience provides the firm with a unique investment perspective. Larry graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Accounting and the University of Illinois College of Law with a J.D. degree. He is also the vice president and a shareholder in ShankerValleau Wealth Advisors, Inc.
Larry is a past member of the board of directors of the Illinois CPA Society. The society has over 23,000 members and is the fifth largest state society in the country. Larry has participated on a number ICPA Society committees including the Practice Management Advisory, Government Executive and Government Report Review. He has served as a Job Shadow mentor through the University of Illinois. He has also been involved in numerous local organizations and currently is the treasurer for the Wilmette Baseball Association.
Larry’s personal interests include spending time with his wife Cindy and their three children. He previously devoted many hours to coaching youth teams for each of his kids, and during some seasons coached three teams simultaneously (one team for each child). He is currently a regular runner, tennis player and an active yoga practitioner.
