ShankerValleau gives back to our community in two important ways: by volunteering our financial expertise to a number of worthy organizations and by encouraging our client's charitable giving by offering investment management services for Donor Advised Funds at no charge.
Wilmette Baseball Association
Larry has been on the Board for this community baseball organization since 2000. He currently serves as the Treasurer. In addition to contributing his financial expertise, our office has handled all accounting and tax responsibilities on a pro bono basis for one of the largest programs of its kind on the North Shore of Chicago.
Lakeside Singers
John served on the Board of this Evanston-based non-profit choral group since its inception in 2002 through 2023; most recently as the board President. The Lakeside Singers was comprised of professionals dedicated to bridging the worlds of classical and contemporary choral music. For over twenty years, the group has entertained Chicagoland audiences including concert performances at Ravinia with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Boy Scouts of America
Brian has been appointed to serve the Order of the Arrow (Scouting’s National Honor Society) as the Section Adviser for Section G9. The section’s nearly 6,000 members span across the greater Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin region. The main function of this youth run organization is to promote camping, provide services, and develop future leaders.
Morrison-Shearer Foundation
Brian serves as the Treasurer for this Northbrook based non-profit foundation whose mission is to preserve and exhibit the works and documentary materials relating to the careers of photographer Helen Balfour Morrison and dancer-choreographer Sybil Shearer. Much of their works are now with the Newberry Library and the board is working to build a new dance studio at the Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest to be used as an artist’s retreat.
Kaufherr Resource Center
Katie serves on the board for this Chicago based non-profit that provides programs and resources for professional performers. The Kaufherr Resource Center exists to advance the careers of performers and other media professionals by fostering community, providing resources, and offering opportunities for growth. The center frequently serves members of SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and provides free audition help, audio & video suites, meeting spaces, and many other valuable services.
